New Milton Advertiser & Lymington Times: Profits Mentoring - Growth Accelerator

Profitable Growth

Results

A&T’s core values were used to create a ‘touchstone’ around which their activities and future direction coalesced.

Together with a radical change in how they measure business success through KPIs, this gave the directors and Senior Team a greater sense of focus and confidence in implementing strong plans to ensure the newspaper’s future.

Background

The New Milton Advertiser and Lymington Times (A&T) are traditional, paid-for weekly broadsheet newspapers and have earned their place at the heart of the local community since their origins in 1928.

A highly-trusted source of quality local news and information, A&T newspapers are still owned by the founding Curry family and published from their original premises in New Milton in Hampshire.

Business Goal

To develop strategic and growth plans for the company in a time of considerable change, develop and support implementation plans and develop the senior team through recruitment and enhanced leadership skills.

Approach

Using Aspirin’s ‘FASTER Growth’ programme facilitated by Aspirin Business Coach, Paul Kinvig, A&T engaged in 9 workshops covering topics such as vision & strategy, sales & marketing, people planning, leadership & team development, key performance indicators (KPIs) & effective Senior Team meetings.

In addition, the group workshops encouraged teambuilding within the Senior Team and skills development, enhanced with Motivational Maps.

Using various business growth tools (including the Strategy & Growth Plan and Value Innovation Curve) as well as individual & team coaching, we helped the Senior Team at A&T produce a plan that is significantly helping them move forward, both strategically & operationally.
